About Me

Welcome aboard the Pangea Express, where change isn’t only inevitable, but enthusiastically invited!  After all, change is really the only thing we can always count on.

I’m Marie Louise Brown, and I reside in Northern California’s Bay Area.  I currently enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, camping/traveling, hiking, and writing.  In the future I’d like to try painting, both watercolor and oil.  I’d also like to learn to speak Spanish fluently, as well as French and Italian.

I’ve been happily married to Allan Brown, computer guru and musician extraordinaire, since February 2002.  We’re thankful to have three healthy teenagers, Jessica, Rebecca, and Caleb, who we are proud of and adore. Yes, yes….2002?  Teenagers?  It’s not that long of a story, but I’m not going to tell it anyway.

Bubba and Gus are the feline therapeutic units, otherwise known as pets, we currently live with.  The teenagers will tell you that the cats are theirs; but I shop, feed, brush, love, and clean the spiral-stair cased kitty litter igloo for them.  So actually, who really owns who here?

My all time favorite quote is “The unexamined life isn’t worth living.” –Socrates (or Plato-the debate rages on)

While we’re doing unto others as we would have them do unto us, detecting earlier when to leave the kitchen because the heat is too hot, or embracing the notion to lounge on the porch all day because running with the big dogs sounds exhausting; the option to examine our choices and change our minds exists in every single second of our lives.  Happiness isn’t a situation, it’s a choice.

Forgiveness and acceptance is fuel for life.  If these two things aren’t firing on all cylinders then the Pangea Express slows, grinding toward a halt, and the trip becomes a total dreaded drag. The snack car closes and the barman runs out of Fetzer Merlot.  Besides, there’s no date or location printed on the ticket for when or where we’re to disembark.

May each living thing on earth enjoy life in health and peace!
